I went to Heartspace Retreat in the Yass Valley over the first weekend in March.
This was my second retreat for the year, as I am focusing on my wellbeing and recovery, determined to rebuild better post cancer.

When I arrived I was a little nervous, and a little overwhelmed by the pure calm that seemed to radiate from Angie and Jeremy who own the property and run the retreats, and Bryony who was leading this one.
Once I settled in I had a wonderful weekend, as the retreat was full of lovely people, the food was excellent (it's genuinely shocking how quickly you can feel the difference of good quality food in your system), the activities were enjoyable, and there was more down time than expected which I was extremely grateful for.
Some of the yoga was a bit too much for me at this stage, but I've discovered that Yin yoga is a good fit for me right now. I did two Yin yoga classes and my body definitely felt better for it. I also got to experience sound healing on the Saturday night which I really enjoyed and would like to try more of.
I loved the location, it was surrounded by bush and there were lots of native birds in and around the garden. It was great to have so much peace and quiet, peppered only with bird songs. My favourite moment of the retreat was early on the Sunday morning when I was alone sitting in a rocking chair, I was watching lots of beautiful Fairy Wrens in the garden and some came very close to me which felt very special.
At one point we were asked to consider a few questions, that I found really helpful to think about when working through problems:
What do I need to finish or complete?
What do I need to let go?
What's holding me back?
What nourishes and sustains me that I could do more of?
What can I no longer ignore?
If you are thinking about trying anything similar I recommend visiting Heartspace.
If you need to eat gluten-free, or a keen to try a more gluten-free diet I also highly recommend Angie's books - her food was inspirational.
I've just ordered one of Angie's cookbooks online, plus the banana bread mix, and booked myself and my partner in for the December retreat!
